When did you take up golf (e.g. year, season, stage in your life)?
What made you take it up?
What did you set out to achieve during your first year in the sport?
What’s your handicap, and is it the lowest it’s been?
Have you performed better or worse than you expected since taking up the
game?
How do you rate:
• Your drive?
• Your approach?
• Your short game?
• Your putting?
What are your particular technical strengths (e.g. driving, putting, bunker
shots)?
What are your technical weaknesses?
What are your mental strengths (e.g. relaxed demeanor, ability to
concentrate)?
What are your mental weaknesses (e.g. inability to detach from the past
and play in the now)?
How do you relate to the people you’re playing with/against (e.g. do they
make you feel competitive, nervous)?
What’s your temperament like? Do you:
• Think positively?
• Cope well with pressure
• Project an aura of confidence?
• React calmly to bad luck, bad shots, bad lies or bad weather?
What were the best round, the best hole and the best shot you ever
played?
How do you approach playing with a weaker golfer?
How do you approach playing with a stronger golfer?
Do you go through form slumps, or periods of self-doubt?
How did you feel?
• Before
• During, and
• After that round, that hole and that shot?
What aspect of the game gives you the greatest satisfaction (e.g. winning,
playing better than your handicap)?
What’s your best shot?
How consistent are you at producing your best shot?
What shot are you not so good at?
What is your area of greatest potential improvement (e.g. your drive, your
attitude)?
At what level would you like to be playing in:
• A month?
• Six months?
• A year?
• Two years?
Do you want to improve your game, and how important is improvement to
you?
